Arsenal could soon reunite Martin Odegaard with a player he worked very well alongside.

Relationships between footballers are always interesting to dissect as we approach a transfer window.

Declan Rice recently got Arsenal fans talking after calling Ivan Toney – a reported target for the Gunners – his “brother” on Instagram, suggesting they have a very close bond.

However – if a deal for the Brentford No.17 does not materialise – Arsenal could instead move to sign someone Martin Odegaard has already assisted on four occasions…

Arsenal could reunite Martin Odegaard with a fantastic striker

Well – according to Football Transfers – Arsenal are interested in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to buy a new striker.

The Sweden international has been a huge success in the Premier League ever since swapping Real Sociedad for Newcastle in a £63m deal, scoring 22 goals in 42 appearances so far.

It was at Real Sociedad where Isak and Odegaard became acquainted.

The Norway international shared a pitch with the Swede on 35 occasions, assisting four of his 44 goals for the Spanish outfit.

Isak even revealed that Odegaard was his “best friend” in San Sebastien.

Norwegian news outlet NewsBeezer quote the striker as saying: “We have a very good contact and thrive well together. It is natural that he is my best friend on the team.”

Alexander Isak would be perfect

Just the thought of Isak being flanked by Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, with Odegaard in behind is a mouthwatering prospect.

The Newcastle No.14 – who has appropriately been compared to Thierry Henry amongst Newcastle’s coaching staff, according to Alan Shearer – ticks many boxes for Arteta.

Firstly, Isak is just 24, so he fits into the age range Edu is targeting in the market, having previously signed other gems between the ages of 18 and 25 such as Declan Rice, William Saliba and Odegaard himself.

The Solna-born striker also offers plenty of physicality thanks to his 6ft 4in frame, meaning he will provide something totally different to the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, who are smaller forwards.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we could genuinely see Isak moving to Arsenal this summer.
