Nottingham Forest's defender, Murillo, has suggested that he wouldn't turn down an opportunity to sign for Liverpool, viewing the move to Anfield as a "good opportunity" for his career advancement.

Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp last month, is yet to add new names to his roster. Considering Joel Matip left when his contract ended in June, it's expected that the Reds are on the hunt for a new center-back before the summer transfer window closes.

Murillo appears to be on Liverpool's radar, following an impressive first season with Nottingham Forest. After transferring from Corinthians for $16.21 million last August, he played 36 games for the East Midlands side, helping them stay in the Premier League and earning the title of Player of the Season.

Less than a year after transferring to Forest, however, Liverpool is already among possible suitors courting Murillo. Now, the Brazilian player has divulged his plans for his future in an open conversation with the Benja Me Mucho podcast.

He confessed he was always planning on leaving Forest for a bigger club, confirming his openness towards moving to Liverpool.

"I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought," he revealed. "I thought: 'I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I'll go to a big club'. I had that in my head.

"I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad. There’s City, Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either. It would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club."

In other news, Mats Wieffer is set to join Brighton in a $31.9 million deal. Liverpool was linked with Wieffer earlier on Thursday but those links appeared to have little truth. Personal terms are finalized and discussions are nearing completion, with Wieffer poised to commit to a long-term deal at Brighton.

It was mooted that Wieffer, 24, has previously caught the eye under the tutelage of new Reds boss Arne Slot, contributing six goals and four assists in 42 games last term. His performances helped Feyenoord secure the KNVB Cup and have put him on the radar of several European outfits.
