FACT-CHECK: Do photos show Wizkid, Burna Boy, Portable at Davido’s wedding party?

Claim:

Photos show Nigerian superstar, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, award-winning artiste, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known in the entertainment industry as Burna Boy, and controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, a.k.a Portable at the wedding party of Nigerian artiste, David Adeleke, well known as Davido.

Verdict: Misleading. The photos have been manipulated.

Photos circulating on social media showed Wizkid, Burna Boy and Portable in a pose with Davido at the latter’s recent wedding party.

Davido tied the knot with Nigerian chef, model, and social media personality, Chioma Rowland at a dignitaries and star-studded party held in Lagos.

Being celebrities, spotlight was on personalities present and absent at Davido-Chioma’s wedding party.

In the same wise, weeks after the wedding, social media have been awashed with lots of photos showing Davido in a pose with Wizkid, Burna Boy and Portable.

Another personality featured in the picture include Davido’s Logistics Manager, Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW.

Verification:

Ripples Nigeria critically examined the photos and observed striking similarities: the personalities are wearing the same clothe design and wristwatch.

However, further checks using image verification tools led to the original picture which shows Davido and Israel DMW together.

It appeared the head portion of the original picture was cut out and replaced with headshot of other personalities.

Meanwhile, in several articles, different media outlets, detailed celebrities present and absent at Davido-Chioma’s wedding. Wizkid and Portable were reported to had been absent at the party.

Although Burna Boy reportedly attended the party, he was not photographed in the picture pose as claimed in the viral photos.

Conclusion:

The pictures in circulation have been manipulated; the original picture shows Israel DMW.
