Awka Monarch Asks FG To Declare State Of Emergency On Erosion Menace In Anambra

The traditional Ruler of Awka Community Obi Gibson Nwosu has called on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu led federal government to declare a state of emergency on erosion ravaging parts of Anambra State.

Speaking when the personal Assistant to the president on constituency affairs Miss Khadijat Omotayo Kareem visited him in his place, Obi Nwosu regretted that erosion has continued to destroy the state lands, in addition to rendering many people homeless and called on the federal government to find a lasting solution to that to save the people from untold hardship.

The traditional Ruler of Awka Community Obi Gibson Nwosu who spoke through the traditional Prime Minister of Awka Community Engineer Benjamin Okoye, equally called for the acceleration of work on the Enugu-Onitsha Express Way to ensure its completion for enhanced vehicular movements and business transactions.

Obi Nwosu who described President Bola Tinubu as a friend of Awka Community recalling how he was conferred with chieftaincy tittle by Awka community when he was the Governor of Lagos State and appealed for the establishment of more federal universities in Anambra State to ensure seamless admission of many Anambra indigenes into university education and commended the president for all his efforts to bring renewed hope for Nigerians.

Earlier, the personal Assistant to the president on constituency affairs Miss Khadijat Omotayo Kareem while thanking Awka Community for the warm reception accorded her and members of her entourage, disclosed that she is in Anambra State for a three-day Town Hall meeting on the instant of the president to ascertain abandoned federal government projects in Anambra State for government intervention.

She described President Bola Tinubu as a detribalized Nigerian who has continued to carry the people along, and urged the people to always remember the president in their prayers to enable him continue to work towards bringing the needed renewed hope for the people.

The personal Assistant to the president on constituency affairs Miss Khadijat Omotayo Kareem, during the visit re-assured the people of Awka of taking their demands to the President for immediate attention.

The Speaker of Awka traditional institution, Chief Nweze Okoli appealed to the president to seek ways of releasing the leader of the prescribed indigenous people of Biafra Mr Nnamdi Kanu from detention, in addition to improving security of lives and property across the country especially in the South-East geopolitical zone for peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst the people

In a vote of thanks the Senior special Assistant to the traditional Ruler of Awka on Special duties, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe who expressed satisfaction with the visit, described Awka as a peaceful community known for hospitality and re-assured both the federal and Anambra State government that Awka community will continue to create a conducive environment for the speedy development of the area as the capital of Anambra State

The Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of protocol to Governor Chukwuma Soludo Chief Chinedu Nwoye accompanied the presidential aide for the visit.

Representatives of all the thirty-three villages in Awka community, Women groups as well as the chairman of Awka youths Chief Ikechukwu Ezenwa, his executive and some Awka stakeholders were present during the visit
