Tanzania Premier League outfit Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids emphasised the importance of building a winning spirit within the team.

He made these remarks during his first interview since taking charge of the club, which was broadcast via the Simba App from their pre-season camp in Egypt.

Acknowledging the club’s recent title drought, Davids stressed the need to instill a mentality of victory in the players, aiming to win each match to ignite fan support.

“When our fans see us giving our all on the field, they will be there with us, urging us on through every tackle and sprint,” he remarked.

Davids highlighted the team’s tactical prowess, emphasising the need for each player to understand their role both with and without the ball. “We are establishing a unified approach to attacking and pressing, while adhering to fundamental principles of defence,” he explained.

He underscored that while the tactical framework has been set, the focus now is on uniting the squad and developing a cohesive mindset over time. “Building this chemistry and cohesion won’t happen overnight; it’s a step-by-step process towards our collective goals,” he added.

Looking ahead, Davids expressed determination, alongside his coaching staff, to create a competitive and sustainable team that can restore Simba to prominence in Tanzanian and African football.

He praised the youthful vigour of the squad, emphasising the need to harness their energy within a structured framework that aligns with the team’s vision.

Describing their objective to develop a distinctive playing style that fans can resonate with, Davids encouraged attendance at the upcoming Simba Day on August 3rd at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

“Let’s unite not only on the pitch but also in the stands. Simba Day marks the beginning of this journey,” he concluded.
