A group of concerned citizens under the aegis of Justice for Mansur Group has filed a petition against the immediate-past Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani, following an alleged shooting incident during the Igabi Federal Constituency election held on February 3, 2024.

The incident reportedly occurred at the 020 Polling Unit, Women Centre in Rigachiku, Kaduna State, resulting in the death of Mansur Bako.

The petition addressed to the National House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions accuses Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani of shooting Mansur Bako during the election process.

The National House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions is expected to review the petition and initiate necessary proceedings to address the allegations against Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2:00pm.

In its invitation to Ibrahim Zailani, the House Committee said, “Whereas the above named petition is now pending before this Committee and the particulars of the petition aforesaid are already within your knowledge, And whereas, the petition has been assigned to be heard by the Committee for determination.

“You are hereby required to note Sections 88 and 89 (C) of our constitution (as amended) and appear in person before this Committee on Wednesday 3rd day of July, 2024 at 2:00pm or so soon thereafter as the Committee shall direct: Venue: House of Representatives Room 429 (New Wing)

“You are to submit one (1) soft and ten (20) hard copies of your brief on the matter.”

“And further take notice that if you do not attend the hearing as required, the case may be heard or determined in your absence," it added.
