KPMG Mexico Advances Sustainability Efforts

KPMG Mexico released its third annual Impact Plan, showcasing significant strides in environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) initiatives. The report highlights the firm's commitment to sustainable practices across its operations, focusing on four key pillars: Planet, People, Prosperity, and Governance.

In 2023, KPMG increased average training hours per person by 39% to 83.6 hours and engaged its 3,300 employees in 75 social and environmental initiatives, contributing 16,078 volunteer hours. The firm also invested MX$11.6 million (US$641,507.7) in projects supporting education, environmental conservation, and community development.

Recognized among the top workplaces, KPMG Mexico ranked eighth in the Top Companies list for organizations with over 3,000 employees, underscoring its transparency and commitment to inclusive growth. “Our 2023 Impact Plan underscores our ongoing dedication to transparency, sustainability, and inclusive growth. Through responsible corporate governance, talent investment, and emission reduction efforts, we aim to make a positive, long-term impact,” said Víctor Esquivel, Managing Partner, KPMG Mexico. 

Governance initiatives at KPMG Mexico were strengthened with the assembly of 207 partners, focusing on integrity and collaborative decision-making. The firm also enhanced ethical standards with robust policies and codes, including the Supplier Code of Conduct, emphasizing ethics, human rights, and legal compliance.

Diversity remained a priority at KPMG Mexico, with 47% of its workforce composed of women. The firm continued its support for diversity through programs like the Distintivo Éntrale for people with disabilities and the Equidad MX award for LGBT+ inclusivity. Additionally, employee benefits were expanded to include hybrid work options, additional leave days, savings funds, and comprehensive healthcare coverage, reflecting KPMG's commitment to employee well-being.

Through its Client Care program, KPMG achieved high client satisfaction, with an average rating of 9.1 and a strong recommendation rate of 80% among clients surveyed.

On the environmental front, KPMG Mexico intensified efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, achieving significant progress in tracking emissions with a 12,267t CO2e footprint, including Scope 3 emissions. The firm engaged 87% of its workforce in volunteer activities, contributing 16,078 hours to social and environmental causes.
