Overview:

We are looking for a Kitchen manager to supervise daily back of house restaurant operations.

As our Kitchen manager at 500chow, You would be responsible for supervising the food prep and cooking, maintaining a fully stocked kitchen inventory and complying with safety and cleanliness standards. To be successful in this role, you should be able to manage our Kitchen staff and guide them to deliver quality food on time.   

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders .
  • Supervise food prep and cooking.
  • Establish portion sizes.
  • Schedule kitchen staff rota.
  • Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques.
  • Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area.
  • Order food supplies and kitchen equipment.
  • Check food plating and temperature.

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

  • Conflict management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Proven work experience as a kitchen manager.
  • Must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in personnel management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in culinary arts or equivalent combination of education and culinary work experience in buka restaurant.
  • Specialty/Technical Training or bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, hear, talk, read, balance, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, smell, push or pull for 8 hours.  The employee should be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 22kg. Ability to go up and down stairs as needed throughout shift with objects up to 22kg.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and an ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This may include warm, hot, or cold temperatures.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate but may be high at times.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time non-exempt position. Schedule may vary based on business demand. Availability to work weekdays and/or weekends as well as mornings and/or evenings as needed.
