One Piece may have just given fans another clue about the treasure that awaits at Laugh Tale, and it could possibly see one forgotten ability play a crucial role in the Final Saga. The latest chapter hints that the Voice of All Things could play a bigger role in the series going forward, especially as Luffy and his crew inch closer towards claiming the One Piece.

Chapter #1120 of One Piece introduces the curious concept of the "voices of the past" through Professor Clover, which represents the allure of the mystery surrounding the Void Century. However, Vegapunk then teases that there may be a more literal meaning to the phrase when he states that Roger and his crew heard the "purest voices of the past."

Uncoincidentally, amidst Vegapunk's explanation, the Iron Giant Emet is seen speaking to Luffy, representing this voice of the past in a literal sense. This, coupled with the fact that only Luffy can hear Emet speak, could be a hint that these "voices of the past" heard by Roger could be none other than the Voice of All Things, an ability that only Roger, Luffy, and few fated others are known to possess.

One Piece Hints Roger May Have Heard the Voice of All Things at Laugh Tale

Created by Eiichiro Oda Chapter #1120, "Atlas"

In chapter #1120, Vegapunk explains how history is written by the winners, in this case, the World Government who defeated the Ancient Kingdom, and this is why history needs to be approached from multiple perspectives in order to fully understand it. Vegapunk bemoans that he did not have enough time to do so himself, but reveals that Roger, through his journey around the world, was curiously able to do so.

Vegapunk goes as far as to say Roger and his crew heard the "purest voices of the past", implying that Roger and his crew learned about the Void Century at Laugh Tale from an unquestionably credible source that gave them the pure, unbiased truth, allowing them to come to their own conclusions. This may be why Vegapunk claims he cannot pass judgments on which side was right or wrong during the Ancient War and why Rayleigh claimed the Straw Hats could arrive at a different answer than they did.

There are numerous possibilities as to what this source could be, but this stress on the "voices of the past" in the latest chapter suggests the Voice of All Things may have played a role in Roger's discovery at Laugh Tale. Very little is known about the Voice of All Things— how it is developed, whether it is a rare form of haki, or whether it is an entirely different ability.

However, one thing that is clear is that the Voice of All Things most definitely has a strong connection to objects and beings of the past, like the poneglyphs, Zunesha, and the Iron Giant. If so, it is possible that whatever it is that Joyboy has left behind at Laugh Tale has a voice of its own that only Roger and Oden could hear that gave them a first-hand account of the truth.

So far, only Roger, Luffy, Oden, Momonosuke, and Pudding seem to possess this mysterious ability, suggesting that it is only a fated few that develop it. Though the Voice of All Things was seemingly rendered irrelevant by Oden's addition to Roger's crew, the ability may still have an important role to play in the series, particularly at the final island.

Granted, the poneglyphs are already designed to tell the history of the Void Century to whoever can read them and there may simply be another poneglyph at Laugh Tale. However, things are rarely ever so straightforward in One Piece, so perhaps the Voice of All Things may act as an added layer of protection, safeguarding the treasure for only those who are fated to claim it.
