It was a double blessing for the farmers to welcome the rains that ushered the month of July that fateful Monday morning coupled with free farm inputs such as fertilizer and herbicides with N20,000 each to go with. It was a moment of joy for the peasant farmers across the rural communities as they received the needed farm implements that would enhance their farming activities.

The farmers, who could not hide their joy, thanked Senator Binos Yaroe for the massive and huge role he played at the Red Chambers which paved the way for them to get these farms inputs for free at the right time when the implements are needed the most.

This reporter, who monitored the event, gathered that it was a collaboration between Rockland Synergy Concept Limited and Nigeria Stored Products Research Institute (NSPRI) which handled the distribution of the fertilizers and herbicides to farmers in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District being sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe. It was held at Impact Farm Limited in Mayo-Belwa LGA.

Speaking to pressmen shortly after monitoring the exercise, Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, said that it became imperative to invest in farmers in his District as the role the hoe-masters play in the society cannot be over emphasized.

According to the People’s Senator, he took it upon himself to push for the project at the National Assembly because farming is an important activity of his constituents. He noted that it is a season of farming, hence the need to distribute the farm implements to enable the farmers utilise them on their respective farmlands on time.

Senator Binos disclosed that the exercise was the first phase of the distribution where over 300 farmers benefited; three from each of the 93 Wards across the 9 LGAs with a token of N20,000 to each of the beneficiaries.

He said that the second phase of the farm implements distribution would take place in few days’ time where the farm inputs would be moved to the various LGAs with 25 bags of fertilizer to each of the 9 LGAs for onward distribution to the farmers.

He explained, “Most of the things we do, as I always say, is support we get from the Federal Government, either things we put in the budget as our constituency project, because we have allocations for what we will do to our people. This is one of the things I put in the budget for my constituents.

“For that purpose, it is the Federal Government. Even though I put distribution of farm inputs in the budget, but I am not the one that sourced the items. It is the Federal Government that does it through the agency where that particular project is domiciled. So the agency will get a contractor that will supply all these things, and deliver it to my constituency, right to the location where I indicate. And this is exactly what has happened today”.

While calling on the benefitting farmers to utilise the farm inputs for the purpose intended, Senator Binos expressed readiness and commitment to continue presenting budgets that would be of direct impact to his constituents.

Also speaking, representative of Rockland Synergy Concept Limited, Yahuza Y. Mohammed, said that the programme was organised and sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe for the sole purpose of facilitating the activities of farmers at the rural communities to enable them have good yields.

He pointed out that some of the farm implements distributed include 1,250 50kg bags of MPK 20-10-10 fertilizer and herbicides to the 300 benefitting farmers.

Mohammed said that the project was a collaboration between Rockland Synergy Concept Limited and an organization known as the Nigerian Stock Product Research Institute (NSPRI), adding that the beneficiaries were carefully selected across the 93 Wards of Adamawa Southern Senatorial Zone.

A cross section of beneficiaries, who spoke to this reporter, hailed Senator Binos for investing in rural farmers, noting that the farm implements they received would go a long way in improving their farming activities, hence increasing the quality and quantity of farm produce not only in Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, but in the entire Adamawa State.

One of the beneficiaries, Mal. Abubakar Usman; Coordinator of Binos Campaign at Leko Ward in Jada LGA, thanked Senator Binos for reaching out to the poor farmers across rural communities in his constituency.

He said that Senator Binos has done well in the provision of free medical services, water supply and empowerment among others, especially in Jada LGA. Hence, he deserves commendation.

He stated, “I am shock with the humility of Senator Binos. He came by himself to witness the distribution of these farm inputs. Other senators will just send people to represent them in exercises like this one. But Senator Binos is here by himself despite the rains.

“As you can see, Senator Binos is here in the rains and all his shirt stained just to make sure things are done as planned. He did not stay at home or in his comfort zone and wait for feedback. He is here to get firsthand information, to see things for himself.

“How people stayed under the sun, suffered and voted for him, he also decided to come out and suffer with the people here. For that, he has won our hearts. We are ready at any time to support his political ambition with our mandate, because he deserves it”.

Another benefitting farmer, Mrs Violet Benedict Dogo from Jada LGA, could not hide her happiness. She saw Senator Binos’ gesture as a dream, having gotten a bag of fertilizer and herbicides free-of-charge.

She noted, “I am seeing this as a dream. Please someone should wake me up. I farm maize, rice and groundnut and I was thinking of how to get fertilizer and herbicides. Today, I have been given these farm implements for free with additional N20,000. I cannot thank the Senator enough”.

Also speaking, a beneficiary from Demsa LGA, Mr Justice Fada, said that the farm implements being given to him for free by Senator Binos Yaroe would go a long way in enhancing his farming activities which would enable him feed his family for over a year.

“I have a family of 12 children. With this bag of fertilizer and these herbicides, bumper harvest is certain by the grace of God. I pray to God Almighty to continue giving Senator Binos wisdom and strength to continue putting smiles on his people. May God Almighty bless him”, he added.
