The National Executive Council (NEC) of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has extended the suspension of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State from the Party to December 2024.

A joint communique signed by Umar Jibrin and Johnson Omolara on behalf of the NEC Resolutions and Communique Committee noted that Governor Abba who is the only governor that emerged through the NNPP platform was suspended in February this year for an alleged act of insubordination to the party authority.

The party said its National Executive Council also confirmed that the Presidential Candidate of the Party in 2023 general elections, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has been expelled from the Party.

The communique stated, “The Confirmation of the Expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was confirmed after the Fact Finding Committee (FFC) and the Conflict Resolutions Committee (CRC) submitted their reports to the National Executive Council ( NEC) for ratification.

“The Fact Finding Committee FFC and the Conflict Resolutions Committee CRC indicted the former Governor of Kano State of a failed “Coup d’etat” and an attempt to forcefully highjack the party through fraudulent means.

“In the same vein, the FFC and the CRS also found Senator Kwankwaso culpable in the misappropriation of over N2.5 Billion proceeds from Nomination forms of Candidates and Campaign Fund and Donations for 2023 General Elections”.

The party’s leadership said recognizing the fact that Senator Kwankwaso and the defunct NWC led by Abba Kawu, Ajuje and Dipo Olayokun have been dragged by the party to Economic and Financial Crime Commission for investigations, the National Executive Council NEC unanimously ratified and confirmed the Expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It said, “As earlier stated, the Six Months suspension from NNPP placed on His Excellency, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State was extended to December 2024 to see whether the Governor will retract his recklessness and reshape his conduct.

“Realizing the Fact that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was notified and dully informed in writing in accordance with the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The National Executive Council also resolved that INEC should update it’s records according to the Resolutions of the National Executive Council Meeting”.
