A serial killer who preyed on girls and young women has called off his prison wedding after his fiancée got cold feet.

Levi Bellfied, a former wheel clamper and the murderer who killed 13-year-old Milly Dowler, Marsha McDonnell, 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22, will no longer wed his beau because of her reservations regarding taking the sicko's last name.

This is in spite of winning a legal battle to get married in the first place, and despite settling on playing Harry Styles' Watermelon Sugar for the occasion, reports MailOnline.

The paper reports Belfield's fiancee, who does not wish to be identified, was concerned that he name would be on the marriage certificate if the couple tied the knot.

It's also believed that couple realised they were never going to have a proper marriage, as Belfied is serving concurrent life sentences.

The woman, who is in her 40s, told MailOnline that she only agreed to marry the child killer so he could wear a ring she gifted him inside the prison.

She said: "I purchased a ring for Levi as a gift, but was told he couldn't have it unless he got married.

"We never expected the prison to push things as far as they did. But when they continued to refuse to allow Levi to wear the ring we felt as if we had no choice.

"But we won't be getting married. It's a joint decision. Levi is gutted but he's far more upset that he won't be able to wear the ring I've got for him.'

Bellfield met his fiancée through Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper, who had a picture of her on in his cell.

The pair's engagement emerges in May 2022 when Bellfield proposed to the woman during a prison visit.

To win the right to marry, the serial killer won a taxpayer-funded legal battle which granted him up to £30,000 on Legal Aid.

The criminal is behind bars at HMP Frankland along with murderers Ian Huntley and Wayne Couzens.
