Health experts have called for the strengthening of Uganda's healthcare system to bridge the existing gaps in the sector.

Experts from Medipol Health Group, Turkey's largest private university hospital, argue that this will address critical illnesses such as those requiring bone marrow, kidney, and liver transplants, oncological treatments, and orthopedic surgeries.

Enhancing the quality of healthcare has been a major concern for players in Uganda's health sector, including central government officials, humanitarian agencies, and diplomatic representatives.

This issue has also drawn the attention of international health sector stakeholders who opened office in Kampala.

Experts emphasise the need for improved healthcare services to manage complex illnesses that hinder proper human functioning.

"The office aims to bridge the gap in Uganda's developing healthcare system by providing access to advanced healthcare services, including bone marrow, kidney, and liver transplantation, oncological treatments, and orthopedic surgeries," said Dr İsmail Murat, regional manager of Medipol Healthcare Group Africa.

This call for enhanced healthcare services comes in an era of increasing globalization, where the world is more interconnected, and people can access services across borders through digitisation and technological advancements.

In response to these needs, Medipol Health Group has expanded its international health tourism network by opening a new representative office in Kampala, Uganda.

This office offers free medical evaluation and counseling services to Ugandan citizens, helping to reduce the healthcare gap.

"Patients will have the opportunity to meet with Medipol's specialized doctors online and receive all necessary support during the treatment process through the representative office," Dr. Murat added.

Erhan Gökçe, commercial counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Kampala, said it was a significant development.

Existing statistics indicate that Medipol Healthcare Group provides health services to over 35,000 patients from 153 different countries annually and continues to extend its reach through representative offices across various nations.

This expansion into Uganda marks another step in their mission to provide advanced healthcare services globally.
