Chelsea snapped up young Brazilian starlet  Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama in January 2023.

Santos impressed in pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino last summer, but insisted he wanted to go out on loan.

Andrey Santos spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and RC Strasbourg.

The Brazilian teenager barely got minutes at Forest but his spell at Strasbourg in the second half of the season was amazing.

He even won the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for March and had some impressive performances for Strasbourg.

Santos has now revealed he had to leave Chelsea on loan because of midfield duo and fellow South Americans Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

“Chelsea wanted me to stay last season, it was my decision to go and play. I did very well in the pre-season,” he told Fora do Jogo.

“But I saw that there was Enzo, Caicedo and I wanted to play, have minutes, so I decided together with my family to go out on loan.”
