Two suspects arrested in R350k drug bust on N7

The Springbok Public Order Policing unit arrested two men during routine crime-prevention patrols along the N7 highway near Springbok for possession of dagga with an estimated street value of about R350,000.

THE SPRINGBOK Public Order Policing unit arrested two men during routine crime-prevention patrols along the N7 highway near Springbok for possession of dagga with an estimated street value of about R350,000.

A spokesperson for the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, said police officers stopped and searched a truck on Wednesday, at about 12.05am, and discovered 11 bags of dagga hidden between food crates on the back of the vehicle.

“The police also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash from the suspects that is believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing,” said Kock.

“A 32-year-old male driver and his male passenger, 26, were arrested for dealing in dagga and are expected to appear in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court soon.”

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the Springbok SAPS Public Order Policing unit’s “C-Platoon” for their vigilance and efforts in robustly fighting drug trafficking.
