Man, 50, Docked For Posing As Landlord To Sell Another Person’s House To Prophet

A 50-year old man, Tayo Ayoola, has landed in trouble for allegedly posing as the landlord to sell a multi million Naira house belonging to Mr. Bilinminu Ayoola to a prophet in Oyo State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Tayo Ayoola has been arrested and charged before an Iyaganku Magistrate Court, Ibadan, for allegedly posing as a landlord to sell the house to a prophet, Emmanuel Olajide.

The incident happened between April 2023 and June 2024, on Alabidun Street, Alakia, Ibadan, where the house is located.

The defendant was arrested by Police operatives from the Oyo State Command, who found him culpable for the alleged offence after interrogation and consequently charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.

He was charged on two counts bordering on conspiracy and impersonation, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

However, he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Supol Anthony Igori, told the Court that “the defendant pretended to be a property owner and attempted to sell a building at the aforementioned area to one Prophet Emmanuel Olajide. Meanwhile the property belonged to one late Mr. Bilinminu Ayoola”.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 516 and 484 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 23rd July, 2024, for hearing while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
