The police arrested three shop owners for allegedly running illegal micro cash loan businesses during a raid in Vosburg. They confiscated 90 identity documents, 60 Sassa cards, 415 bank cards and one SAPS appointment certificate.

A JOINT operation by a team of SAPS members led to the arrest of three shop owners in Vosburg in the Northern Cape for allegedly running illegal micro cash loan businesses.

According to provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, the three male suspects were found to be in possession of a significant number of identification documents, SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) cards and bank cards.

The SAPS team, consisting of members from Crime Intelligence and the De Aar Public Order Policing units, acted on information received and executed search-and-seizure operations in Vosburg. The arrests took place on June 27 at three different locations within the town.

The three suspects are facing charges related to the contravention of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005. They were allegedly operating illegal micro cash loan businesses.

The police confiscated 90 identity documents (green ID books, smart ID cards, temporary ID and birth certificates), 60 Sassa cards, 415 bank cards and one SAPS appointment certificate.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon. Meanwhile, police investigations continue to uncover further details about the operation and any potential accomplices.
