In a recent review of UK airports conducted ahead of the summer holidays, London Luton Airport, home to EasyJet, was ranked as the worst airport in the UK based on traveller reviews. Despite being recently renamed as 'London Luton', the airport is geographically located miles away from London, causing confusion among travellers. Mixed Rankings for London Airports London City Airport, on the other hand, received the highest rating of 84 percent from UK jetsetters, positioning itself as the best airport in the UK. Mixed Bag for London Airports London Stansted followed closely behind Luton Airport with a 72 percent rating, while London Gatwick and London Heathrow scored 78 percent and 83 percent respectively. London City Airport excelled primarily in immigration and customs processes. Newcastle Airport Leads in Security Checks Newcastle Airport emerged as the best airport in terms of security checks, achieving an impressive 87 percent rating, outscoring Southend and Glasgow airports. Overall, Newcastle Airport secured a solid rating of 80 percent, putting it in third place overall. Methodology of the Review The review was based on 3,428 reviews from FlightRadar in 2024, with only airports receiving 50 or more reviews being included in the study to ensure a robust sample size. Traveller experiences were evaluated across various categories such as check-in, facilities, security checks, food and retail, customs/immigration, and baggage claim, culminating in an overall airport rating.
