Woman charged after allegedly attempting to smuggle an array of illicit drugs into Parklea Correctional Centre
A woman has been charged after allegedly attempting to smuggle a variety of prohibited drugs into a Sydney prison.
The 33-year-old woman will face court on Wednesday after her failed plot to deliver contraband to an individual inside Parklea Correctional Centre.
On Tuesday, officers were called to the correctional facility in northwest Sydney after the woman was discovered.
She was visiting the facility as a legal professional.
During a search of the 33-year-old, she as found to be in possession of six small balloons containing prohibited substances.
The balloons contained cocaine, buprenorphine, methylamphetamine, and tobacco.
She was subsequently arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station.
The 33-year-old was charged with unlawfully bring anything into place of detention, supply prohibited drug of an indictable quantity and two counts of supply prohibited drug.
She was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court.
