5:45 A.M.

Fire officials tell us crews got the call around 3:00 A.M. First responders reported heavy flames coming from the second and third floor balcony. Soon after, it was upgraded to a second alarm so that there would be backup in case the fire got out out control.

Crews were able to quickly put the fire out. They left the scene just before 5:00 A.M.

We spoke with a neighbor who said he and his family woke up to a loud bang. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.

Our crews on scene tell us it is a 3 floor structure fire. Crews are currently checking for hotspots and have cleared the 2nd floor.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Crews are currently responding to an Apartment Fire at 611 Crescent Drive, which is on West John Street and Crescent Drive.
