The Police in Osun have arrested a commercial bus driver, Olalekan Amos, 54, who allegedly stole three sound amplifiers worth N4.5 million, which he was to deliver for a customer.

SP Yemisi Opalola, Police Spokesperson in Osun, made this known during the parade of criminal suspects at the state police headquarters in Osogbo.

According to Opalola, a complainant in Edo State reported that sometime in March, he employed the service of the suspect to help him deliver three amplifiers, worth N1.5 million each, to one of his customers in Osogbo.

“The complainant knew the suspect to be a commercial bus driver that ply the Benin (Edo State) to Osogbo (Osun State) route, so he employed his service to help him deliver the amplifiers.

“The complainant reported that to his dismay, the amplifiers were not delivered as agreed and the driver became incommunicado,” she said

Opalola said upon the report, the Police Anti-cultism Unit had been on the trail of the suspect and on Thursday, he was eventually arrested in Osogbo.

She said upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have sold the three amplifiers for N75,000, at the rate of N25,000 each.

She said that efforts were still ongoing to arrest the buyer and recover the amplifiers.

The Command spokesperson said that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

Similarly, Opalola said five suspects were also arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery at Agunbelewo/Halleluyah Estate Area, Osogbo, in April.

She further said that three others were arrested in June for armed robbery and theft of a motorcycle in Ilesa.

Opalola said two suspects were arrested for breaking into a shop in Ode-Omu Town while a driver of a Toyota Corolla Car was arrested at Ikire, on the Ife/Ibadan Expressway, after the three occupants in his car fled and stolen items and weapons were found in the vehicle.

Another suspect, a serving NYSC member, was also paraded in connection with the abduction of two persons in August 2023 in Ede Town.

The suspect was accused of masterminding the abduction of his victims in Ede and bringing them to Osogbo, where they were made to pay N2.6 million ransom.

Opalola said all the suspects will all be charged to court after completion of investigation.

She warned cult members that intend celebrating the group’s founders day on July 7 in the state to shelve their plan as the long arm of the law would catch up with them.
