T20 World Cup final: The Men in Blue scripted history in the 2024 T20 World Cup final as they became the first team to have won this tournament by staying unbeaten throughout. The Indian team had witnessed multiple individual match-winning performances and eventually beaten South Africa in a nail-biting summit clash and lifted the T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years. On one hand, their match-winning performance was praised everywhere but there were also concerns about Suryakumar Yadav’s match-winning catch to get David Miller out in the last over. Numerous videos on social media showed that Yadav might have touched the boundary line with his leg after taking the unbelievable catch and the foreign media publications also reported on this incident heavily. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t happy with all these allegations and also criticized an Australian newspaper for making such accusations after India’s historic triumph in the tournament.

"There was also a question raised in an Australian paper about the fairness of the catch that Suryakumar Yadav took to dismiss David Miller in the final. All the replays were quite clear that SKY had done a marvelous balancing act as he took the catch and flicked the ball up in the air before he crossed the boundary rope and then jumped in the air and caught the ball within the boundary to complete a fabulous catch,” Sunil Gavaskar was quoted as saying to a column in Sportstar.

Gavaskar also reminded these journalists to first look at their national cricket team before accusing the other teams.

"Nobody questioned the catch, but the writer of the article did. He may be interested to see the video floating around of the 10 most blatant cheating acts done by the Aussies before trying to point a finger at SKY. Pot calling the kettle black indeed," he further said.
