Following the wave of resignation of the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in some States , erstwhile National Vice Chairman, Southeast of the party , Fidelis Ozichukwu Chukwu has assured members that new leadership expected to emarge at the National level in July, 2024 congress will reposition the party.

Ozichukwu however reacting to the resignation of the former governor of Imo State, Ihedioha and his supporters while chatting with Daily Sun in Owerri attributed it to unhealthy rivalry between power brokers in the State.

He said “There’s no cause for alarm. We saw it coming. But people were over confident and exhibiting the messiah complex. The littlenesses and petty jealousies are just fully manifesting.

“The two brothers are at each others throat, one out of fear, the other out of anger. The wounds will heal and the bones will rise again. Only pray that the dust does not settle to create more dust.

And on his opinion on the consequences of the resignation in the State and coming elections , Ozichukwu believes Governor Hope Uzodimma holds the ace.

He said It all depends. For sure the opposition in the state today is severely handicapped. And it is good for the Governor to face governance and Consolidate for the future.

“Who takes over from Onwa in 2027 will be a matter of conjecture for now. However, public perceptions and election dynamics will play big roles but Governor Uzodinma will hold the key. Another critical factor will be the personality of the candidates.

“At the national level PDP chances will be a function of the new party leadership that will emerge from the July 2024 Congresses.” Ozichukwu said.
