Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has issued a stark warning to Ghanaian politicians, urging them to heed the aspirations of the populace to avoid unrest akin to recent protests in Kenya.

Speaking at the 15th MTN Pulse Africa Transform Summit in Kumasi, Iddrisu underscored the importance of addressing basic amenities such as roads, water, electricity, and education across Ghana.

“I don’t want to see a Kenyan example here in Ghana. We, the political elites, must not ignore the legitimate concerns of the Ghanaian people,” Iddrisu emphasized.

He stressed that elected officials, whether presidents or MPs are responsible for prioritizing the development needs of their constituencies.

“There are still many parts of our country lacking basic infrastructure. That is why you elect us – to deliver on these needs,” he stated.

As Ghana prepares for the December 2024 elections, Iddrisu encouraged the youth to voice their concerns and prioritize national interests over partisan politics.

“Speak out when things are not right, regardless of party affiliations. Love your country and advocate for what is good and right,” he urged.

Iddrisu’s remarks come amid growing concerns over social inequalities and the need for responsive governance in Ghana.
