Football agent Mike Makaab has confirmed a possible permanent exit for Nyiko Mobbie at Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The right-back was on loan from Sundowns at Sekhukhune United for the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign.

During that period, Mobbie established himself as one of the key players for Sekhukhune after playing 35 matches across all competitions. His consistent performances at Babina Noko earned him a spot in the Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad, where he shares the responsibilities at the right-back position with Khuliso Mudau.

Mobbie was part of the Bafana squad that won the bronze medal at the 2023 AFCON at Ivory Coast earlier this year.

The 29-year-old defender has been on loan at Sekhukhune for three seasons since their promotion to the top-flight in 2021.

Since signing with Masandawana from Free State Stars in 2018, Mobbie also went out on loan at clubs such as Stellenbosch FC and Chippa United.

Having featured in one game since joining Sundowns, Mobbie looks set to exit the club on a permanent basis in the current transfer window.

His representative, Mike Makaab, says there are talks in place to possibly move Mobbie from the Brazilians permanently.

“Nyiko Mobbie still has two years left on his existing contract at Mamelodi Sundowns, but he’ll probably complete a permanent move this [transfer] window,” Makaab told FARPost.

Meanwhile, the reigning league champions have embarked on drastic changes as they prepare for the upcoming season. Downs shockingly parted ways with head coach Rulani Mokwena, who still had three years left before the expiry of his contract.

The Tshwane giants have since welcomed back Steve Komphela as the senior coach to assist Manqoba Mngqithi and the technical team.

Sundowns also released Bongani Zungu, Brian Onyango, Gaston Sirino, and Thabiso Kutumela who has already signed with Richards Bay FC.
