Former ‘RHONJ’ star Kathy Wakile creates drama with Melissa Gorga on ‘WWHL,’ criticizes her reconciliation effort as “convenient”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum Kathy Wakile thinks it’s “convenient” that Melissa Gorga suddenly wants to reconcile their relationship, likely due to the direction the long-running Bravo show is heading in.

Wakile, who starred on RHONJ from Season 3 to Season 7, made a surprise appearance in the Bravo Clubhouse for Sunday night’s (July 14) episode of Watch What Happens Live, where Andy Cohen grilled her on her new house.

“I heard on Jeff Lewis Live that y’all are building a house right by Melissa’s new house,” Cohen said, to which Wakile sarcastically replied, “Yeah. Melissa Way. Apparently, she owns the street.”

In all seriousness, Wakile said she’s “had [her] eye on that house for forever.”

When current RHONJ star Jennifer Aydin asked how she felt about Melissa wanting to rekindle their friendship, Wakile said it felt “very convenient.”

“If you’re neighbors, it would be better to be friendly neighbors,” Cohen pointed out, to which Wakile said, “Of course. But not to be boastful but each property is at least an acre to two acres. So you don’t see each other.”

Melissa, whose husband Joe Gorga is first cousins with Wakile, recently talked about her former co-star’s new house on Jeff Lewis Live.

“It’s funny, everyone moves to my street,” she said, per BravoTV. “I lived on the other street first, also, and, you know, my sister-in-law moved onto the street, and then now I’m on this street and Kathy is moving across the street.”

The “On Display” singer admitted that she’s hopeful Joe and Wakile will reconnect someday.

“He enjoyed Kathy,” she said. “Kathy was a good cousin to him, she took care of him … It’s a first cousin. It’s not even like it’s a second cousin, it’s a first cousin.”

Wakile revealed in 2021 that she no longer had a relationship with Melissa, Joe or Teresa Giudice since leaving the show.

“A funny thing happens with reality TV — it’s a small blurb, it’s a small part in your life, and you live your life, and whatever gets aired, it gets aired, and you’re still living your life,” Wakile said, per BravoTV. “But for certain people — people live in that bubble — and they don’t realize that there is a whole world outside of the bubble.”

With a shortened Season 14 and no reunion, the future of RHONJ — and its cast — remain uncertain. Perhaps this could be a perfect time to bring Wakile back into the mix.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
