Ondo State Indigenes in Diaspora (OSID), a global non-partisan organization representing Ondo State descendants, has called for a responsible and orderly election process as political parties prepare for primaries in the state.

In a joint statement issued and signed by the Chairman Prof. Salewa Olafioye in the United States and Secretary Mr. Joseph Oladimeji Ojo in Canada, emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation during the election process, urging citizens to vote for aspirants committed to Ondo State’s progress.

OSID Chairman Prof. Olafioye acknowledged the impressive lineup of aspirants vying for the Ondo State Governorship ticket, including high-profile figures from various backgrounds and experiences.
HE Lucky Aiyedatiwa, a sitting Senator representing Ondo South in The Senate, Senator Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, Member House of Representatives, Hon. Jimi Odimayo, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, National Vice Chairman of APC, Hon. Durimini Isaacs Kekemeke, former National President, Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, former Member , House of Reps, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, A retired Army General, Gen. Ohunyeye, Dr. Ehinlanwo, Engr. Ife Oyedele and a host of others.

Maintaining neutrality in the primaries, OSID encourages the selection of candidates who represent the entire state and embody values of transparency, integrity, and a commitment to Ondo State’s best interests.

With 16 contenders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, each having paid a substantial nomination fee, OSID commends their dedication and urges them to prioritize the peace and stability of the region throughout their campaigns.

The organization reserves the right to endorse candidates in the general election, supporting those who share OSID’s vision of progress and development for Ondo State.

OSID calls on all political parties to work together in promoting a pan-Ondo State approach, fostering unity, and
collaboration across party lines.

The organization intends to endorse candidates in the November 2024 election, assuring its members and the people of Ondo State that any endorsements will be made with the region’s best interests in mind.

Furthermore, OSID appeals to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful and credible election process. By upholding transparency, security, and the rule of law, these institutions can contribute to the growth and sustainability of democracy in Ondo State and Nigeria.
