Police release CCTV footage of man in public appeal for information after multiple ATMs stolen in NSW towns

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to as part of an investigation into stolen ATMs, one of which was found dumped in a dam near a small NSW town.

Police are appealing to the public to help identify a man as part of an ongoing investigation into stolen ATMs in New South Wales towns.

Officers were called to a business on Single Street at Werris Creek, a community about 44 kilometres south-west of Tamworth, after reports an ATM had been taken.

Police were told a man allegedly entered the premises and stole an ATM in a trolley before fleeing the scene.

Weeks later on June 23, police were called to a motel off New England Highway at Willow Tree, a town between Scone and Tamworth, after reports of a break and enter about 9.15am.

Police were told two men had allegedly entered the premises that morning about 3.50am and stole an ATM machine before leaving in a black dual-cab utility, which was parked outside.

An ATM was found by police hours later at 1.30pm, partially submerged in Quipolly Dam about 30 kilometres north of Willow Tree.

Police said the machine was seized for forensic examination.

Police on Wednesday released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to as part of their investigation under Strike Force Pell.

One photograph showed the man wearing a pair of sunglasses and black jumper with the hood pulled over his head. 

He also appeared to be wearing blue jeans and light brown boots. Another image depicted a dark coloured ute.

Police have described the man as being of medium build, and between 40 to 50 years of age with short red hair.
