It has been claimed that Manchester United re back in talks with Jonny Evans about extending his stay at Old Trafford.

Evans is out of contract this summer after returning to United on a one-year deal last summer and went on to make 30 appearances including as a substitute in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

The Northern Ireland star is out of contract, but United fancy keeping him, partly due to a limited budget for new signings and have reportedly been urging him to stay at the club for at least one more season, according to the SUN.

The 36-year-old has had talks over a new Man United deal, but recently admitted that he does not know what the future holds and if he will be staying at the Manchester Giants this summer transfer window.

“I don’t know,” Evans said when asked about his contract. “It’s still early days. The season has just finished and I think the day after the cup final I flew straight to Palma and spent a week here and then met up with the (Northern Ireland) squad in Murcia.

“Now we are back in Palma (to play Spain) so I’ve been on the go. I’ve wanted to just concentrate on these two games and meet up with the lads. Once I go back and everything settles down a bit I’m sure I’ll have more conversations with the club.”

Asked how much longer he wanted to play on for club and country, the 106-cap defender said: “I don’t know if the question is want. The answer to that is you want to play forever.

“Everyone who plays football, in the moment there’s nothing better. It’s more about how things transpire. So many things have to go into it, your fitness, your age becomes a part of it.

‘But if I could answer that, you want to play on for the rest of your life.”

UNITED TO MAKE ARAUJO OFFER?

There has been some claims that Manchester United will make moves to sign Barcelona star Ronaldo Araujo

Araujo has been a player that has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last few seasons and he could once again be on the transfer market if Barcelona make a decision on his future.

While the centre-back has been linked with a move away – the 25-year-old has repeatedly stressed his desire to stay at the Catalan outfit.

However, the recent reports states that several people in Barcelona’s hierarchy believe selling the Uruguayan would be the right decision for the club to bring in some funds to help the clubs financial issues.

And As per today’s version of the Catalan media outlet, Manchester United  are keen to add to their defence this summer and are reportedly ready to make a very tempting offer to Barcelona for their defender.

It is understood the defender, whose contract expires in 2026, has a €1 billion (£855.6m/$1.1b) release clause

If Barcelona make the decision to sell the defender in the Summer window – he would be a brilliant addition to that Manchester United side – especially now that Rafa Varana has left the club and will need to be replaced.

But it will be interesting to see how this all plays out – and if Barcelona do decide to sell Araujo – Man United should make a move to try and get a deal done as he would be a massive statement signing.

However – with the fact that Barcelona will have now immediate replacement for the star – it is probably unlikely that he does leave the Camp Nou unless a crazy offer is made for the defender.

TEN HAG WANTS KOUNDE – 

It has been claimed that Erike Ten Hag has told Manchester United that he would like Jules Kounde signed from Barcelona

Kounde is a player that United have been linked with ever since his days with Sevilla – but have never been able to convince the Frenchman that a move to the Premier League is one he needs to make.

However – Kounde’s future in Spain now looks uncertain as the Spaniards are going to sell a number of players in the coming transfer window in hope that they can freshen up the side after a disappointing campaign.

He has already attracted interest from several European giants including Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and Chelsea, but now reports in Spain have claimed that Ten Hag has personally asked the board to sign Kounde from Barcelona as the defender fits the style of play that he would like to employ at Old Trafford.

Man United have allowed Rafa Varane to leave the club – so they will need to sign a ready-made replacement for the world class act.

But Kounde is a man that they have wanted for some time and is a player that could be one of the best – he would be a brilliant signing.

However – despite all the speculation and all the rumours – we would be very surprised to see him actually depart the Spanish giants and fully expect him to stay as he has shown no real desire to want to depart the Camp Nou, or even play in the Premier League.

But – in the world of football anything could happen and the right offer could get him all signed up by Man United, if they actually want the man.
