Creative arts summit to proffer solutions for industry challenges

A Creative arts summit organised by Afroworld Music Live, which will hold in Dubai, is aimed at addressing issues in the industry across Nigeria and Africa.
Chief Executive Officer, Afroworld Music Live, Gbenga Famubode, while speaking at a news conference in Lagos, said the Inaugural Africa-Middle East Creative Arts Economic Summit (AMCAE Summit) would hold from June 24 to 25 in Atlantis Palm, Dubai.

He added that the event, which would bring together major stakeholders, “aims at ensuring partnerships for businesses to contribute to growth and development of the creative arts industry.” He listed the stakeholders to include: financial institutions, federal ministers and ministries of arts, culture, tourism, trade and creatives across Africa and the Middle East, film studios, record labels, royals, among others.He said the summit would proffer solutions to problems that have continued to plague the creative arts industry in Nigeria and across Africa.

“The mission is to facilitate and bolster the expansion of infrastructure, investments and build a self-sustainable ecosystem,” he said. He added that a 150 million dollars Creatives and Real Estate Investment Fund would be officially launched at the event to finance infrastructure and the creative industry.

“This fund seeks to raise $150 million to fund and invest in high-growth creatives start ups, project financing and related commercial Real Estate projects financing,” he said.

Famubode added that the conference represented special efforts to stimulate public-private blended action in accelerating the revival of Africa’s creative arts industry. He explained that AMCAE was established to address the common issues of interest for business to contribute towards the growth and development within the creative arts industry.

“We aim to assist government to stabilise the economy by attracting further foreign direct investment, to create skilled jobs, and to enable the pooling of resources to achieve collective self-reliance to improve the living standards of people.

“For Africa, it is important to promote sustainable and equitable economic growth and socio-economic development through efficient, productive systems, deeper cooperation and integration through the various programmes we hope to initiate in partnership with government and other stakeholders,” he said.
