Nigerian music & video director, ThankGod Omori Jesam better known as TG Omori has revealed his stance as Wizkids’s comment about rappers in Nigeria continues to generate mixed reactions.

Benco news reported that in a recent interview with 10 magazines, Wizkid declared the Afrobeat genre of music as the new pop, adding that the rap genre of music is dead.

He said: “Afrobeats is the new pop, sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record.

“If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore. don’t listen to rap that shit is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”

Weighing into the comment by Wizkid that has since caused an uproar among other artists, Omori who is known as a leading figure in cinematography took to Twitter to reveal where he stands.

According to the 27-year-old, no matter the genre of the song, the making of the video should be brought to him.

He wrote: Rap or Afro beats. Make una sha carry the video come.

Replying TG Omori’s post, legendary rapper, Jude Lemfani Abaga, better known as M.I Abaga urged him to reduce the price of his production.

He wrote: Bring the price down abeg make I show

Benco news earlier reported that M.I reacted to Wizkid’s statement about rap music. He urged rappers to focus on their craft, adding that the genre will keep growing.

Reacting in a post shared on Twitter on Friday, M.l Abaga wrote: “The energy around HIP-HOP right now feels right.. I know most rappers are still not the most popular yet.. but right now is the time for us to focus on the craft.. just keep getting better.. this year we did so well as a genre and next year we grow!!!!”
