OSUN: REC, Dr. Agboke On Courtesy Visits To Police Commissioner, CP Abba

THE Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 paid a courtesy visit to the new Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Mohammed Umar Abba.
The REC, in his short message said he decided to pay the courtesy visit as the police is one of the major pillars in election operations.
He thanked the Police Command for their maximum support always.
The REC added that by next year, activities for the 2026 elections will commence in earnest and there are plans to visit political parties for mutual engagement ahead of the next election to create a level playing grounds for a free, fair and transparent elections.
He urged the Police to invite INEC anytime there is going to be education on electoral process.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba said Agboke was his Alma mater at the Bayero University, Kano.
He welcome the REC and his management team for a timely visit.
He said Osun State would not be the first state he would be working with INEC, he did worked in 2023 when some party men were arrested for flouting electoral laws.
He said the command will be ready to partner with INEC and will always invite them on any intraparty issues.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola and her counterparts in INEC, Oluwaseun Osimosu were on hand to introduce officials of the INEC and the Police Command.
