WASHINGTON, DC: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently stirred controversy by stating that Vice President Kamala Harris would serve as a "safeguard" if President Joe Biden wins the 2024 presidential election and Republicans challenge the results, as per The Hill.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Pelosi asserted, "Remember that we will have the vice president that day. That’s a safeguard."

Pelosi’s comments about the vice president came amid a renewed war of words between her and Trump. Earlier that day, Pelosi criticized Republicans and Trump in a statement to The Hill, calling Trump "the instigator of an insurrection" who was "returning to the scene of the crime".

She described January 6 as a "crime against the Capitol," which saw "Nazi and Confederate flags flying under the dome that Lincoln built," and a "crime against the Constitution and its peaceful transfer of power."
