To make it easy for people to commute, Gurugram, Haryana, has chosen to fix more than 64km of master sector dividing roads between sectors, according to officials. Contractors are being sought after by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to take up these projects, which will cost around Rs 109 crore.

Main roads that divide sectors such as 90/93, 92/95, 91/92, and 92/95, as well as open spaces close to sector 91, will be the focus of the repairs. An estimated Rs 29.77 crore would be spent on improving 9.45 km of road.

The main routes connecting the various sectors, totaling more than 64 kilometres, will be repaired, according to GMDA executive engineer Amit Godara. He stated, "The work will be done by the chosen agencies within nine months from when they are awarded the contract," Amit was quoted by Hindustan Times.

Service Roads Will Also Be Repaired

Godara added that in addition to these primary routes, the GMDA is working to improve and maintain the service roads that run parallel to the primary routes from Sector 58 to Sector 67. The stretch of 17.2 kilometres of surface roads will cost Rs 28.06 crore. It is expected to be completed within eight months. Authorities have also requested bids for this work, according to media reports.

The repairs were ordered after residents in the surrounding neighbourhoods complained that the roads had become dangerous due to numerous potholes. According to the media report, Nitin Sirohi, a resident of Sector 67, underlined the need to mend the roads before the monsoon to minimise waterlogging and traffic congestion.

Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and the Golf Course Extension Road are especially problematic. Vehicles are at risk on these roads. Most commuters utilise Golf Course Extension Road, which has potholes along this section, particularly after Vatika Chowk. Due to waterlogging, which starts at Sohna Road, it is difficult for commuters to see potholes, which causes accidents and injuries.
