Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is flattered by interest from Chelsea but remains happy at St James’ Park, sources have told Football Insider.

As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday (29 June), Chelsea approached Newcastle with a player-plus-cash offer for Isak with three stars suggested as makeweights in a potential deal.

The Magpies had concerns about meeting the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) with the club facing the deadline to submit their 2023-24 accounts on Sunday (30 June).

But sources told Football Insider on Monday (1 July) that Newcastle are now confident of keeping hold of their star men, including Isak and Liverpool target Anthony Gordon, after selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively.

It is believed Isak is now keen for the Magpies to dip back into the transfer market and will be watching the club’s transfer business closely this summer.
