The Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park
The Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park has been described as being "perfect"

One charming destination in the Brecon Beacons National Park has been hailed as being "as near to perfect as you can get" by delighted campers.

Pencelli Castle Caravan & Camping Park is a haven of peace and tranquillity tucked away just four miles east of Brecon offering a little bit of everything for outdoor enthusiasts. The multi-award-winning park has easy access to walking, cycling, mountain biking, pony trekking, canoeing, and bird watching, amidst the peaceful beauty of the area.

Located in the heart of the Welsh countryside, this little gem has another ace up its sleeve. Its incredible location is not only a great shout for outdoorsy visitors, but the peaceful fields and beautiful views are just two minutes from a pretty decent pub and a short ride from some of the region's best-loved attractions.

The Cantref Adventure Farm, for example, is just a short 10-minute hop away, offering indoor play areas, horse riding, animal feeding, pet handling, a cafe and VIP animal experiences.

Visitors who like a stroll can meander down the campsite towpath to find a world of historical Welsh wonders on their doorstep. Follow the path to the historic Brinoer Tramroad, leading to Talybont Reservoir, or into Brecon, a quaint market town with unique features, shops, museums and a cathedral, as well as the iconic Hills Restuarant serving up some of the best burgers in all of Wales.

Keen cyclists can take off on the Taff Cycle Trail that runs past the entrance of the park, while visitors wanting to get back to civilisation will find a bus route to Cardiff and Abergavenny located close by.

After a busy day exploring the local area, a nice cold pint could be very much on the menu. Luckily enough, the campsite is just moments away from a "perfect" village pub that has a surprise of its own out the back. The Royal Oak in Pencelli offers cosy perfection on chilly evenings, while summer nights lead to garden beers within meters of the Brecon and Monmouthshire canals.

Watch the narrowboats cruise slowly by as you take a sip of your drink or tuck into some pub grub, before heading back to the campsite to bed down for the night.

The campsite itself has received an overall score of five out of five on Tripadvisor, with campers loving not only the location, but also how "clean and tidy" it is.

One happy camper left a five-star review, they said: "This site is such a hidden gem. We try to come here as often as we can. The views are spectacular, with a pub just on your doorstep. There isn’t anything you can fault about it. "

A second added: "This is the most luxurious campsite I have ever stayed at. Even fresh flowers in the toilet/shower block! Beautiful setting and perfect location."

Accommodation at the park includes touring caravans, motorhomes, and tents spread across three picturesque fields and there is an award-winning facility block and a well-kept children's play park just outside the main camping areas.
