Middletown juvenile accused of shooting at two men, police say
MIDDLETOWN — A local juvenile is facing several charges after police said he shot at two men earlier this year.
The 17-year-old juvenile, who resides in Middletown, was in a vehicle traveling on Court Street on April 24 when he stopped at the intersection with Pearl Street, got out of the vehicle fired several rounds at two men walking nearby, Middletown police said in a news release.
The two men started to run away and one, identified as 19-year-old Chauncey Robertson, brought out his own handgun and started firing back at the driver, according to police. The driver then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene.

Middletown police were called to the area just after 2:30 p.m. to investigate a reported shooting. Police chased Robertson on foot, ultimately arresting him and recovering his weapon, police said.
Police said that, during the shooting, multiple rounds hit vehicles and homes in the area.
In the investigation, detectives identified the driver as the 17-year-old juvenile. A warrant was obtained and, on Monday, police charged the juvenile with two counts of criminal attempt at first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace and commission of a class A, B or C felony with a firearm, police said.

The juvenile was transferred to juvenile detention and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
