Movement is about to get much smoother as the Authority unveiled plans for major upgrades of roads in the area.

UNRA is undertaking construction of an 18 km road that runs from the Kyaliwajjala junction up to Matugga through Kasangati.

The UNRA spokesperson Mr Allan Ssempebwa announced on Wednesday that part of this project will have a duo carriage (four lanes) section that runs from Kyaliwajjala to Kira.

This part measures about two kilometres. In the future, the duo carriage will be extended to Matugga.

In addition, the project involves tarmacking the 5km Najjeera—Buwaate Spur which has been completed.

Meanwhile, Ssempebwa announced that the project will include a major bridge to be built at the Kyaliwajjala junction.

This will ease access towards Naalya and Namugongo.

This section provides for pedestrian walkways, cycle lanes, green belt and street lighting,” he added.
