Chelsea really should just trust Marc Guiu instead of signing £70m striker this summer

Chelsea completed the signing of Marc Guiu from Barcelona earlier this week.

However, the Blues still look keen on adding another striker to their squad before the transfer window closes.

They have been linked with multiple names as the club try to find more competition for Nicolas Jackson, who played 44 games last season.

Enzo Maresca, though, may be better off putting his faith in Guiu than pushing for one reported target to be signed this summer.

Marc Guiu could remain at Chelsea this season

Guiu is still 18 years of age and has never played in England before.

Even so, it has been claimed that the young Spaniard will actually be part of Chelsea’s first team in the upcoming season.

Given the fact that Guiu still is a teenager and has no Premier League experience, a loan may be the best thing for him.

However, Chelsea need another body in their squad who can lead the line. And while they are thought to be interested in Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, for example, giving Guiu a chance could be the smart option.

Samu Omorodion not worth the money

According to The Sun, Chelsea have had a £42m bid for Omorodion turned down. The outlet claims that Atletico are holding out for at least £70m, a crazy fee for the Blues to pay.

Omorodion is only 20, just two years older than Guiu, and did not exactly have a world-class goal record last term.

While on loan at Alaves, the Spain U21 international netted eight times in 34 league appearances.

Chelsea would be paying for potential, but given that they now have another young and talented striker in Guiu, it is probably worth just trusting him if Omorodion really is going to cost £70m.

But in an ideal world, Chelsea would bring in a world-class centre-forward who is guaranteed to score 20 goals a season. Unfortunately, they are not easy to find in the transfer market.
