A woman caught with 550 rounds of AK47 ammunition has confessed to being paid N50,000 per trip to deliver the ammunition to bandits in Katsina State.

Aisha Abubakar, a 25-year-old resident of Kubwa, Abuja, was apprehended by the Kaduna State Police Command along the Zaria-Kaduna highway on June 23, 2024, while en route to Katsina State.

Speaking to reporters at the Police Command headquarters, where she was presented alongside other suspected criminals on Thursday, Abubakar detailed her involvement.

“I was arrested by the police with ammunition. It was Wawo who initially gave me a bag of fertilizer to hand over to a commercial driver for delivery to Katsina. On my second trip, I personally delivered the item but was apprehended on my third trip to Dan Musa. I received N50,000 for each trip,” she revealed.

She claimed she was unaware of the contents of the fertilizer bag given to her, as she had never opened it.

Commissioner Ali Audu Dabigi disclosed that the suspect was found in possession of 550 rounds of AK47 live ammunition, which she had obtained from a man.
