The caretaker Committee chairman, of the Labour Party in Adamawa, Hon. Theman Jonah, has described the Gov. Fintiri-Led Adamawa local governments elections slated for 13th July as a charade and a mockery of democracy.

The chairman said, no sane society interested in the progress of its people, treats elections, an important vehicle in delivering good leadership, fostering development and progress, as lightly as Gov. Fintiri’s government is doing in the name of conducting LG electronics.

Hon. Theman made the remarks in a press statement made available to this media, over the weekend in Yola.

Theman said, Labour Party (LP) in Adamawa will not participate in the elections because the process lacks transparency and it is designed to select not elect leaders.

According to Theman, “Adamawa LABOUR PARTY will not participate in the forthcoming charade by the
Adamawa State Government under the questionable leadership of Governor AHMADU Umar Fintiri calls Local Government Elections.

“We all know what polls looked like in the last election under the present administration which detests opposition like a disease.

“Our participation will be tantamount to foolhardiness telling our members to invest their hard-earned resources in such an exercise whose contrivance was rooted in the ideals of unbridled translucency, accretional mercantilism and invidious malfeasance.

“We owe our teeming members the responsibility of protecting them from avoidable losses, moreover in this case it is common knowledge that the council elections in Adamawa State will be a one-man show,” Theman queried.

Calling on the members of his party in Adamawa to stay away from the elections he said, “We urge our members to be calm as the court deliver judgement on the issue and determines the future of local government administration and suffrage in Nigeria.

“We reviewed the planning of the exercise in Adamawa State by the ADSIEC and realised that its outcome had been predetermined before conception because even the members of his party are still complaining about how they were disenfranchised in the selection of the candidates at all levels.”

The LP chieftain warned that there is a political jobber on the rampage and they should be weary of him. He said, “PDP and APC should not be deceived by the political jobber Christopher Nicholas’ fraudulent proposals that he will move the mountains for them.

“Christopher Nicholas is acting as nothing but a mercenary bent on selling the soul of Labour Party in Adamawa to the highest bidder. He has since been expelled from the party because of his corrupt practices, he only uses LP as a beggars front to source for his daily bread and and wait for another elections circle to continue his begging spree.”

He stressed that, “LP is not and will no longer be a front for political jobbers and we are unequivocally restating that LP will not participate in this election designed to be a dubious exchange and no one who loves democracy should acknowledged it.”
