Severe Risk for the Southern and Central Plains Sunday

weathernationtv.com 2024/10/5

Some lingering storms will be possible early Saturday from all the lingering storms across the Plains. Wind and hail will be the main weather risks.

Areas of the plains were dealing with severe storms Saturday and more severe chances will build for more of the same areas on Sunday.

Kansas and Oklahoma will be at the heart of the risk for severe on Sunday. A wind-driven, linear complex of storms will bring the potential for damaging wind gusts through Sunday night. Keep this in mind if you are traveling on I-70, I-35, I-40, or any other major roadways in these states on Sunday.

While most of the heavy rain over the weekend is expected into the central/southern plains, flood-impacted communities in the Missouri and Mississippi basins should keep an eye on this system. Pockets of heavy rainfall are likely and could cause rises in local waterways. The best chance for flooding will be Sunday in Kansas and Nebraska.
