Alleged murder: Native doctor, nurse, cyclist arrested

A native doctor, Alabede Libagi; an auxiliary nurse, Oyin Israel, and one other have been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing a 39-year-old sick patient, Afusat Ololade.

According to a Situation Report sighted by The Eagle Online on Friday, the suspects were arrested by the police on Tuesday.

This followed a report lodged at Ifo Divisional Police Headquarters by the daughter of the deceased, Inumidun Ololade.

According to the information made available to The Eagle Online, Inumidun reported that her mother was sick and receiving treatment at Alabede Libagi’s house and at about 2:07pm on Tuesday, the native doctor called the auxiliary nurse for further treatment of the patient.

She stated further that the nurse administered an injection on the patient, which led to her death

The Eagle Online was made to understand: “Upon the report, detectives led by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ifo Division, Odu Sunday, moved to the scene, took pictures and moved the corpse to a general hospital where the doctor on duty confirmed her death.

“The body was removed to the morgue for preservation pending the arrival of the family.”

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed to The Eagle Online the arrest of three persons in connection with the incident.

Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, said aside Libagi and Israel, a motorcycle rider, Alabede Barri, was also nabbed by the police in relation to the incident.

She said the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, for further investigation after the preliminary investigation at Ifo Divisional Police Headquarters.
