The Nigerian Army honours Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, with the ‘Outstanding Support/Service to the Nigerian Army’ award. This took place at the 2024 Nigerian Army Day Celebration.
The event was held at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, on 06 July 2024. The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, attended.
His Excellency Barr Caleb Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State, and the Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Agbu Kefas, also attended.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria, praised Onyema’s contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development. He acknowledged Onyema’s continuous use of his airline and other enterprises for national service.
Lagbaja highlighted Onyema’s outstanding service to the nation and humanity in general.
For instance, Onyema announced a special initiative, a rebate to support Nigerian military personnel, when he established Air Peace in 2014. Moreover, he offered Nigerian military officers flights at a reduced fare of 10,000 naira. This initiative demonstrated his commitment to their well-being.
Furthermore, in 2022, Air Peace showed its commitment to honouring military personnel by introducing a priority boarding policy for military officers.This policy acknowledges the invaluable service of military officers to the country. “It is our way of saying thank you for all they are doing,” Onyema stated.
Onyema highlighted his dedication to motivating and supporting the nation’s military. In September 2023, he pledged to introduce rebates on flight tickets for retired Nigerian military officers.
He made this pledge during his conferment with a Doctor of Management Science Degree by the Nigerian Defence Academy. This occurred at its 33rd Convocation Ceremony in Kaduna.
