Ogun Schools Commence 2024 BECE

Both public and private Junior Secondary Schools in Ogun State have commenced the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), just as supervisors, school administrators, teachers and students were commended for their good conducts at commencement of the examination.

Speaking during the monitoring of the examination, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, disclosed that 75,664 candidates registered in public schools with 87,236 in private schools, totalling 162,900, saying examination materials were adequately supplied.

Mrs. Oloko explained that Governor Dapo Abiodun-led government subsidised amount payable for the examination for private schools across the state, towards supporting parents and learners in cushioning the effects of the economic challenges.

She applauded schools visited for complying with guidelines for cholera prevention, disclosing that no case of the outbreak had so far been recorded in any school in the state.

Applauding government for the Optical Memory Recorder (OMR) sheets, the Principals of Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo, Mr. Solomon Osunsanya; Abusi Edumare Academy, Ijebu-Igbo, Mr. Ayankole Otunaya; Itamerin Comprehensive High School, Mrs. Comfort Solaja, Methodist Comprehensive High School, Ago-Iwoye, Mrs. Idowu Olubanke and Methodist Comprehensive High School, Mission, Mr. Alaba Adedeji, noted that it would help in proper identification and address examination malpractices.

Also speaking on behalf of other BECE supervisors, Mr. Felix Obateru, said there was great improvement in the supply of examination materials, appreciating government for introducing technology innovation into the education system.
