The Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to make history in the 2024 season. After winning back-to-back Super Bowls, they will be looking to become the first team ever to three-peat as champions.

That is certainly a tall task, but who is going to be betting against the magnificence of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid? Since coming together, they have been the gold standard in the league.

Heading into the 2024 season, an argument could be made that the Chiefs’ offense will actually improve. The team made some investments in the offensive line to continue beefing up the tackle spots but the biggest additions were at wide receiver.

Mahomes has even more weapons to work with now after an underwhelming display from his wide receivers in 2023. A first-round pick was used on Texas speedster Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown was signed in free agency.

Those two, combined with Rashee Rice, give Mahomes the best wide receiver trio he has ever worked with. Add in tight end Travis Kelce and running back Isiah Pacheco, and this team is as difficult to game plan for as ever.

Will that be enough to get them to a third straight Super Bowl despite losing a key player on defense in L’Jarius Sneed? Bill Barnwell of ESPN certainly thinks so.

The NFL analyst put together a piece highlighting 20 teams who have a shot at making the postseason. Kansas City was part of that bunch and he believes they are going to go all the way as Super Bowl champions for a third straight campaign.

Their opponent in the big game representing the NFC will be the Green Bay Packers. But, Green Bay will fall just as the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers before them, by a score of 34-20.

“As you might suspect, if I think the Chiefs are capable of winning 15-plus games during the regular season, I have high hopes for their playoff chances, too. I have them coming out of the AFC. The NFC is a tougher ballot, but it’s hard for me to ignore what I saw out of the Packers during the second half of last season. Given their youth and talent throughout the roster, I have them toppling the Lions and finally overcoming the 49ers in the postseason to advance to the Super Bowl,” Barnwell wrote.

We could very well witness history this season by the Kansas City Chiefs. They are an extremely talented team and as long as Mahomes is running the offense, they are going to be contenders year in and year out.
