Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has revealed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) instructed him not to invite certain players to the national team during his tenure.

Oliseh, who coached the Super Eagles from July 2015 to February 2016, had a tumultuous spell in charge, clashing with senior players like Mikel Obi and Vincent Enyeama, leading to his resignation after just eight months.

In an exclusive interview with Elegbete TV, the 49-year-old Oliseh named Vincent Enyeama, John Mikel Obi, and Emmanuel Emenike as the three players the NFF told him to avoid due to their controversial status in the team.

"I became coach because the Super Eagles had failed to qualify for the 2015 Nations Cup under one of the best coaches we've ever had, Stephen Keshi," Oliseh said.

"When I came in, there was already a rot which I noticed. When I signed to coach the Super Eagles, one of the things they told me was that they had not qualified [for the 2015 AFCON] because they were having problems with certain players. These players also gave so much trouble to [Stephen] Keshi, and that's why Nigeria did not qualify. They had asked me not to invite these players to the Super Eagles anymore."

"The three players that the NFF had the most problems with, they told me, were [Vincent] Enyeama, John Mikel Obi, and Emmanuel Emenike."
