Ripples Nigeria 2024/10/5

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State on Saturday passed a vote of confidence on Governor Uba Sani in recognition of his achievements in the last one year.

The party members passed the vote of confidence during the State Executive Committee meeting held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall in Murtala Square, Kaduna.

The motion was moved by the party’s Zonal Vice Chairman, North-West, Mr. Garba Babawo, and seconded by a former member of the House of Representatives from Chikun Federal Constituency, Mr. Yakubu Barde,

It was followed by encomiums from the party stakeholders who respectively spoke about the feats recorded by the governor within the year.

The APC chairman in the state, Emmanuel Jakada, in an opening address, described the meeting as an extraordinary one aimed ‘at giving honour to whom honour is due.”

He said: “We are also here to rub minds on issues of concern to our great party in Kaduna State and especially to celebrate the remarkable milestone of the first year in office of our visionary, indefatigable and able Governor, Senator Uba Sani.

“His Excellency’s one year in office has marked a significant achievement in his journey towards transforming Kaduna State into a home for progress, peace and prosperity.

“His leadership model has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the well-being of the people of the State.

“His administration’s efforts to revamp the education sector, improve healthcare infrastructure and drive economic growth are laudable.

”His numerable initiatives aimed at empowering youths, promoting agriculture and enhancing security are indeed commendable.”

He said what the governor has achieved within the short time has renewed hope among the residents that his performance would surpass all his campaign promises.

“His Excellency within one year in office has demonstrated visionary leadership, unwavering dedication and a passion for the people of Kaduna State.

“This has earned him trust and administration from all the people of the state and even across party lines.

“The aforementioned had motivated the State Executive Committee to call for this extraordinary State Executive Council Meeting today to appreciate and encourage him to continue with the good work, the chairman added.

Also, the party’s Secretary in the state, Yahaya Pate, commended the governor over the fear recorded in his one year in office, especially in the education and security sectors.

Pate assured Sani of the party’s continued support and loyalty.

The meeting was attended by party members from all the local government areas of the state, party officials, past and present legislators and the members of the state executive council.

However, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai was conspicuously absent at the meeting.

There are rumours Governor Sani and his predecessor no longer see eye-to-eye following remarks credited to the latter in the last few months.

The governor in March claimed that he inherited a huge debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion and 115 contractual liabilities from the last administration in the state.

To further confirm the bad blood between the two men, the State House of Assembly in June asked the anti-corruption agencies to investigate and prosecute El-Rufai and some members of his cabinet over alleged N423 billion fraud.

The ex-governor had since filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Assembly at the Federal High Court, Kaduna, over the claim.
