SNP have been handing out five-year-old leaflets on campaign trail, Labour claims
THE SNP handed out five-year-old leaflets on the campaign trail, Scottish Labour claim.
Anas Sarwar’s party said pamphlets urging voters to re-elect Tommy Sheppard as an MP were distributed in his Edinburgh East and Musselburgh constituency - despite having been produced for the 2019 vote.
The leaflets encourage people to vote for the SNP on December 12 - the date of the election five years ago - and slate Boris Johnson and Brexit.
Alongside a photo of Mr Sheppard, a leaflet says: “It’s time to stop Brexit for good. But the main issue at this election is who gets to choose Scotland’s future - Boris Johnson or the people who live here?”
It goes on to say that Scotland “should have a referendum next year on becoming an independent country”.
A Scottish Labour spokesperson said: “The SNP’s shambolic campaign has taken another embarrassing turn.
“Scots know that the SNP are out of ideas, but it’s now clear they are so out of cash they are dusting off five year old leaflets.
“While the SNP keeps recycling the same old leaflets and the same old arguments, Scottish Labour is ready to deliver the change Scotland needs.”
But the SNP denied they had handed out old leaflets.
It comes after a former Prime Minister was spotted canvassing doors on a Scottish street ahead of the election.
Theresa May took to the streets of Perth and Kinross-shire yesterday in a bid to drum up support for Tory candidate Luke Graham.
Ring Doorbell footage captured the moment that locals watched as Ms May chapped a door at 4pm yesterday evening, while out campaigning for the local Tory candidate.
