The project, initiated by photographer Jo Sealy, aims to enlighten and inspire, as well as make visible the work of Black makers.

In the exhibition space, learn from the expertise of mosaic artist Dionne Ible of Qemamu Mosaics, and weaver Marcia John of MarciaBJohn Designs.

You’ll get the chance to understand more about their practices, watch demos and sign up for workshops.

The Black Artisans showcases and celebrates established UK based Black Artisans through a travelling photography exhibition. As well as capturing traditional sectors of UK crafts, The Black Artisans captures artisans in other areas of cultural heritage – steel pan makers and calabash artists, for example.

This body of work seeks to make visible Black Artisans and to enlighten, educate and inspire people to explore these areas as a potential field of work or as a leisure interest.
